5 COVID deaths, 47 new cases

The Abilene-Taylor County Health District reported five COVID deaths and 47 new cases (12 PCR, 35 antigen) on Monday.

The people who died are:

  • Male in his 50s
  • Two males in their 70s
  • Female in her 70s
  • Female in her 90s

A total of 245 people have died from COVID in Taylor County.

There were 62 recoveries on Monday.

The number of active cases is 2,648 with 128 of those in the hospital.

As of Sunday, 22.39% of the people hospitalized in Trauma Service Area “D” were hospitalized for COVID-19.

Hendrick had 147 COVID patients (125 Abilene, 22 Brownwood) and 0 ICU beds available.

Trauma Service Area “D” includes Brown, Callahan, Coleman, Comanche, Eastland, Fisher, Haskell, Jones, Knox, Mitchell, Nolan, Shackleford, Stephens, Stonewall, Taylor and Throckmorton counties.

Restrictions — such as bar closures and reduced restaurant capacity — will not be lifted until the area is below 15% COVID hospital capacity for seven straight days.
