Dallas Police investigate Keats Drive shooting that left one dead, one injured

Dallas, TEXAS – According to the Dallas Police Department, one person was murdered and another was injured in a shooting late Saturday.

Just before midnight, officers responded to the 2000 block of Keats Drive in a field between Texas Drive, South Westmoreland Road, and West Illinois Avenue.

The 22-year-old victim, later identified as Isarel Martinez, was discovered in the field with several gunshot wounds by responding authorities. According to authorities, he was transferred to a hospital and eventually died.

Martinez arrived to the field following an altercation with 24-year-old Jacob Bautista, according to police. It’s unknown what sparked the brawl.

Martinez had a pistol and, according to the police, pointed it at others before giving it to Bautista. According to authorities, Bautista then used the pistol to beat someone.

According to authorities, someone in the crowd fired at both Martinez and Bautista. It is unknown who shot at them.

Bautista was brought to the hospital and given medical attention for his injuries. As of Sunday morning, he remained in stable condition.

According to authorities, Bautista is charged with aggravated assault.

According to authorities, the case will be sent to the Dallas County Grand Jury. The probe is still going on.
