ABILENE, TX – Lee split its first two games at the Abilene ISD Invitational Baseball Tournament on Thursday, beating No. 8-ranked Fort Worth Southwest Christian, 4-1, before falling to Wichita Falls Rider, 2-0.
Rebels pitcher Chase Shores and Jace Martinez combined on a one-hitter against Southwest Christian. Shores did not allow a hit or a walk over four scoreless innings to go along with seven strikeouts.
Martinez picked up the save after allowing one run, one hit and no walks over 2 2/3 innings. He struck out four.
For Lee (8-3) against Southwest Christian, Tanner Hedrick was 2-for-3 with a double, a stolen base, and RBI and two runs scored; Michael Weidner went 2-for-3 with a triple, an RBI and a walk; Trevor Roper was 1-for-3 with two RBI and a walk; and Shores went 2-for-3.
Rebels pitcher Hunter Weidner had a quality start against Rider, as he allowed two runs (one earned), six hits and a walk over seven innings, while striking out six.
