ABILENE, TX — The Taylor County Sheriff’s Office recovered methamphetamine and two firearms in two separate incidents Tuesday, April 7.
According to a TCSO Facebook post, agents conducted a stop at approximately 6:30 p.m. April 7 at South 20th and Butternut streets in Abilene and contacted Gideon Chance, 35.
Chance tried to swallow a bag with methamphetamine, but agents were able to recover it. Chance was transported to the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office for an interview.
Chance, who is on federal suspension, admitted to having more methamphetamine and a firearm at his residence, according to the post.
Agents took Chance to his home and found approximately 171 grams of methamphetamine and a Taurus .40 caliber handgun.
Felony charges are pending.
The second incident occurred at approximately 11 p.m. Tuesday when TCSO agents tried to stop an SUV at South 18th Street and Sayles Boulevard.
According to the post, the driver fled and agents pursued it, however, the pursuit was terminated because of the danger to the public.
The vehicle was found at Palm Street and one person was arrested at the scene.
Agents contacted the homeowner and were informed a man ran into his house with a black backpack and was hiding in the laundry room.
The man was identified as Ruben Trevino, 43, was arrested and agents seized the back where they found approximately 404 grams of methamphetamine and a stolen Glock 9 mm handgun.
