Two Abilene paramedics are recovering after being attacked by a man inside an ambulance on Wednesday, according to police.

Abilene Police said the incident happened near Ambler and Willis.

During a press conference, Abilene Police Chief Marcus Dudley said the incident started after a woman called to report a man was at her home who claimed he was there to work on her floors.

When officers arrived, police said they determined Michael Gaylon McMillan of Waxahachie was having a medical issue.

While he was in the ambulance on the way to the hospital, police said McMillan got up from the gurney and pulled out a handgun from his jacket.

As paramedics struggled to get the weapon away, police said McMillan fired two shots inside the ambulance.

No one got hit.
