TRENT, TX — The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a deadly accident on the I-20 service road 1.4 miles east of Trent.
It happened Wednesday just before 8 a.m.
Investigators say a Dodge Ram was traveling east on the south service road, and a Chrysler STC was headed west.
They said the Dodge tried to merge onto the the entrance ramp to I-20, while the Chrysler continued west.
Both vehicles then veered to the south where they collided with each other.
Virgil Warren, 59, of Merkel was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other driver was taken to Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene where she was treated and released.
