DENTON, TX – Denton’s growth as a North Texas shipping and warehousing hub is gaining speed.
Several developers have recently announced plans for new industrial projects in the Interstate 35 corridor north of Dallas.
Now a Pennsylvania-based builder has filed plans for the largest Denton business park yet. Exeter Property Group plans to build the almost 1.5 million-square-foot warehouse project in the Exeter Westpark business park west of I-35.
Construction is set to start on the two-building project in June, according to planning documents filed with the state.
The Exeter Westpark buildings will cost almost $60 million, according to the design documents.
Richardson-based Alliance Architects is designing the new industrial park.
Exeter Property Group recently leased an almost 650,000-square-foot industrial building in the same area to home improvement retailer Lowe’s. Lowe’s already has shipping centers in Ennis south of Dallas and in Mount Vernon in East Texas to supply its dozens of stores in the region.
Exeter Property is also building in its Exeter Buckner business park off Buckner Boulevard near Interstate 30 in Dallas.
And Exeter is working on an industrial park in Forney with more than 1 million square feet.
The developer has been in business since 2006 and has offices across the country, including one in Dallas.
Other Denton warehouse projects are in the works by Scannell Properties and Ironwood Realty. And Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones’ Blue Star Land just purchased a large industrial development site north of Denton.
