Abilene man accused of ‘crafting fake handgun,’ robbing convenience store

An Abilene man is accused of “crafting a fake handgun” and using it to rob a convenience store.

Agapito Antonio Espino, 45, is charged with robbery and possession of a controlled substance.

Espino is accused of robbing the Diamond Convenience Store in the 600 block of S. Leggett Drive on Saturday afternoon.

According to the arrest report, Espino confessed to crafting a fake handgun and pointing it at the store clerk while demanding money.

After getting cash, he took off.

Police said the confession was corroborated with video surveillance and witness statements.
