Abilene man killed in two-vehicle crash Saturday evening

ABILENE, TX –  A 60-year-old man from Abilene was killed in a two-vehicle crash at 8:10 p.m. Saturday on US Highway. 277.

According to a preliminary crash report from the Texas Department of Public Safety, a 2006 Toyota Camry was traveling northbound on US Highway 277 and a 2013 GMC Sierra pick up, with a vehicle in tow, was traveling southbound.

The report states the Camry, driven by Daniel Clain Lott, 60, of Abele drove on the wrong side of the road in a no-passing zone and struck the GMC Sierra head-on.

The driver of the Sierra was identified as Shelley Diane New, 59, and the passenger was identified as Wylie Alvin New, 57, both of Christoval.

Both the driver and passenger of the Sierra were taken to Shannon Medical Center with non-incapacitating injuries, according to the report.

Lott was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace McGuire.

The crash occurred seven miles from San Angelo The weather was clear and road conditions were dry, according to DPS.

The Texas Highway Patrol and Tom Green Sheriff’s office assisted in the investigation.
