Abilene Trauma Service Area below 15% COVID hospital capacity for 1st time

The Abilene Trauma Service Area dropped below the 15% COVID hospital capacity on Saturday for the first time since Dec. 1.

As of Saturday, 14.63 % of the people hospitalized in Trauma Service Area “D” are hospitalized for COVID-19.

If it stays below 15% through Friday, restrictions such as bar closures and reduced restaurant capacity would be lifted.

Trauma Service Area “D” includes Brown, Callahan, Coleman, Comanche, Eastland, Fisher, Haskell, Jones, Knox, Mitchell, Nolan, Shackleford, Stephens, Stonewall, Taylor and Throckmorton counties.

As of Saturday, Hendrick had 106 COVID patients (93 Abilene, 13 Brownwood) and no ICU beds available.
