The number of active COVID-19 cases in Taylor County exceeded our summer peak.

Dr. Annie Drachenberg, the Medical Director for the Abilene-Taylor County Public Health District, said the 1,328 active cases is more than we saw at any point this summer.

As of Wednesday, only one ICU bed available anywhere in the country.

“If the trend doesn’t go down, it will greatly effect the way we are able to deliver healthcare,” said Drachenberg.

She said our daily personal decisions is what will effect this trend most

  • Wear a mask
  • Practice social distancing
  • Avoid social gatherings and situations where masking and social distancing are not possible
  • Eat a healthy diet, including fresh fruit and vegetables
  • Exercise outdoors when possible
