ABILENE, TX – After four years, Jens Anderson is stepping down as head football coach and athletics director at Elgin High School.

He will remain in those positions until a replacement is named, Anderson said Wednesday. He has accepted a position as assistant principal in the Elgin school district, superintendent Jodi Duron said.

“(Anderson) has indicated a desire to shift his career to an administrative pathway,” Duron said. “He is truly a value-add to our community and we’re thrilled that he has chosen to stay with Elgin ISD.

In 2020, the Wildcats were 2-6, 2-5 in District 13-5A DII. In his final game, Elgin defeated Bastrop 37-17.

There have been other coaching changes in Central Texas this spring.

In Taylor, Brandon Houston has been named head football coach and athletic director, replacing Robert Little, who has been reassigned. Houston previously served in the same capacities at Buffalo High, a Class 3A Division II school. He inherits a team on a 20-game losing streak.

Nate Langford has been hired as football coach and athletic director at Luling High. Last year he was an assistant at Seguin. He replaces Stacey Martin, who has been hired as co-defensive coordinator at Midland High. Martin coached Luling three years.

Also, Marty Murr has been named football coach and athletic director at Jarrell. Murr, who has a 99-47 career record, previously served in those positions at San Augustine. He replaces Amos Davidson, who departs after three seasons to become the defensive coordinator at Collinsville.
