ABILENE, TX – The Abilene Police Department Cyber Crimes along with the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations, arrested a Breckenridge man today, following a child pornography investigation, according to a news release from the APD.

On Thursday, April 30, officers executed a search and arrest warrant at a residence located in the 600 block of East Elm Street in Breckenridge. John Nored, age 26, was arrested for Second Degree Felony Promotion of Child Pornography, according to the news release.

Nored is accused of downloading and uploading child pornography through the internet. He is also accused of producing child pornography. Numerous pieces of electronic evidence were seized at the home, the Abilene police reported.

Nored was taken to the Stephens County jail, where he remains this evening, awaiting arraignment.

Stephens County Sheriff Will Holt said he took the original complaint alleging the production of child pornography in Stephens County.

“When I realized that it involved pretty extensive internet/online child pornography, I reached out to  (the Department of Public Safety). And, they referred me to a guy with the FBI, and then at the same time, the FBI agent referred me to the Internet Crimes Against Children division at the Abilene Police Department,” Holt said, adding that the DPS investigator also referred him to the APD division. “They specialize in these types of crimes and work these cases every week, so I went to them and gave them the original report and worked with them. They took the lead after that.”

The initial crime, production of child pornography, can be prosecuted in Stephens County, Taylor County or on the Federal level, Holt said.

The case is still under investigation.
