City of Abilene: Don’t call to verify your name is on COVID vaccine waitlist

The City of Abilene is asking people not to call the Abilene-Taylor County Health District to confirm their name is on the waitlist for COVID vaccine.

“The Health District is getting a ton of calls from people wanting to verify they’re on the waitlist,” said Communications Director Mari Cockerell. “However, getting access to the waitlist and checking for names is not something staff handling calls can do.”

The City said if you get a message that said “your submission was successful,” then you are on the list.

You will get a call when vaccine is available to schedule your appointment.

Health Director Annette Lerma said they hope to administer at least 1,200 doses of COVID-19 vaccine each week.

There were at least 12,000 names on the waitlist as of Wednesday afternoon.

Lerma said anyone who falls under Phases 1A and 1B can put their name on a waitlist to get their next dose.
