Ford Motor Company donates car to help train Abilene ISD automotive students

Abilene ISD automotive students have some new wheels to learn on.

The Ford Motor Company donated a Ford Focus to the district Tuesday afternoon at Arrow Ford.

The car will serve as a training aid for automotive students.

It’s part of a partnership to connect Ford with school districts and teachers and help students become high quality technicians.

“It’s like our chance to start working on real cars that we see on the road that haven’t been broken yet, and we actually get that chance to see something new and be able to experiment and learn,” said Justin Ashburn, a senior at Abilene High.

The automotive program and the donated Ford Focus will be housed at Abilene High before moving to the district’s new career and technical education facility called “The Lift” in August of 2021.
