JC BASEBALL: Chaps fall to Temple College again at Region V

ABILENE, TX  – The Midland College baseball team was eliminated from the NJCAA Region V Tournament after a 12-3 loss to Temple College on Sunday night at  Crutcher Scott Field.

The tournament was moved from Waco after rain made the field there unplayable.

MC finished the season at 29-16 after losing to Temple for the second time in the tournament. TC had beaten the Chaparrals, 5-3 to start the tournament on Friday.

Temple (39-15) moves on to play McLennan Community College at 10 a.m. Monday for the right to move to next weekend’s Region V Super Regional.

Luke Bumpus led MC by going 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored, while Garrett Williams and Tyler Wulfert each added two hits with Williams connecting for a double and an RBI.

Alizaeh Gutierrez took the loss.

Dylan Blomquist got the win for Temple after he allowed three runs on nine hits with one walk and six strikeouts.

Andruw Gonzalez and Andre Jackson each drove in three runs for the Leopards.
