ABILENE, TX — Abilene Mayor Anthony Williams formed a committee to “Re-Open Abilene.”
Comprised of 25 people from various industries — including retail, personal/beauty services, medical facilities, childcare, and religious organizations– Re-Open Abilene will be led by President & CEO of Hendrick Health System Brad Holland, and Mayor Pro Tem Weldon Hurt.
The informal citizen committee will advise the Abilene City Council of best practices and community preferences for how to re-open the local economy following the COVID-19 shutdown.
Meetings will be shown on the City of Abilene’s cable channel, website, and Facebook page.
Re-Open Abilene will begin meeting the week of April 27 and share its recommendations to Abilene City Council at subsequent City Council meetings.
