ABILENE, TX — A Dallas man was arrested over the weekend after a shooting left another man injured Saturday in Abilene.

According to a press release from the Abilene Police Department, at approximately 8:30 p.m. Saturday, March 13, dispatch received a call of an injured person suffering from a gunshot wound at an adult football game.

The shooting happened at the Lee Athletic Complex, after adults had just finished playing a semi-pro football game.

When officers arrived, the suspect had left the scene in a vehicle. They found a man in his 20s with a single gunshot wound to the upper shoulder area. He was taken to the hospital and treated for his injury.

Witnesses at the scene described the male suspect, his clothing, and the vehicle he fled in to police. Officers issued an attempt to locate, and later Saturday evening, Callahan County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Texas Department of Public Safety troopers stopped a 2020 Hyundai Elantra matching the description.

Wayne Morris Brown was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

This investigation is ongoing, according to the APD, which credits witnesses with helping catch Brown.
