Taylor County adds 4 cases Tuesday; inpatients total 9

ABILENE, TX – The Abilene-Taylor County Public Health District on Tuesday reported four new cases of COVID-19 and five recoveries.

All four new cases were confirmed by polymerase chain reaction tests.

Active cases total 152 (58 PCR cases and 94 confirmed via antigen tests). Active cases a week ago totaled 143.

COVID-19 inpatients at Abilene hospitals remain at nine, the same as reported Monday. The average age of the inpatients is 61, with three residing outside Taylor County.

The percentage of COVID-19 inpatients in the Abilene trauma service area was 0.90% Saturday, compared to 0.31% Friday and 1.14% Thursday, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services COVID-19 website.

SCHOOLS, COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES

Abilene ISD: Reported Monday no new cases. Active cases total nine (six students, three staff). Since Aug. 17, the district has reported 1,132 cases (572 students, 560 staff).

Wylie ISD: Reported Tuesday one active case, one fewer than last report Friday. The active case is at Wylie High.

Abilene Christian University: Reported Tuesday nine active active cases, eight fewer than Monday, and two people in quarantine because of possible exposure. The cumulative number of cases is 795.

Hardin-Simmons University: Reported Monday zero active cases.
