TEXAS – An Amarillo homeowner confronted, struggled with and ultimately killed two would-be burglars early Monday morning, police say.

Jesus Antonio Maldonado, 27, and Anthony Garone Adams, 43, both died at the scene, KFDA in Amarillo reported.

Officers found the two men dead after responding to a call at around 5:20 a.m. Monday at a home near 3rd Avenue and South Jackson Street in Amarillo.

Police told KFDA the homeowner, who was armed with a handgun, confronted one of the two burglars and the two began to fight.

After the second burglar tried to assault the resident, the homeowner shot both men.

A Potter County grand jury will review the shooting.
