ABILENE, TX — After 25 years of service to the City of Abilene, Police Chief Stan Standridge has issued a letter of intent to City Manager Robert Hanna, saying he’s leaving his post and seeking employment elsewhere.
In the letter, Standridge said he feels he’s faithfully executed his duties in his career in Abilene.
Additionally, in the letter, Standridge discloses his dating relationship with another city employee, which he had approached and sought permission from City administration to pursue.
By APD policy, Standridge said, he was required to report any intent to begin a dating relationship and any reporting structures would have to be resolved prior to dating.
“My decision, however, has caused a disruption in maintenance and order of the Department, which I fully recognize and assume ownership,” the letter states. “I wish to pursue this dating relationship, so with transparency, I disclose my intent to seek employment at another police agency in Texas.”
Standridge said in the letter he intends to leave the APD in the coming months and within calendar year 2020.
