ABILENE, TX — The Abilene City Council voted against crediting customers for dripping their faucets at Thursday morning’s meeting.
During last month’s winter storms, the City asked residents to drip their faucets to prevent pipes from freezing.
City Manager Robert Hanna said the plan would have credited each customer for 2-thousand gallons of water, along with fees.
The credit would have been for about $11.10 per account. Hanna said the credit would have been for around 41,000 customers, costing the City of Abilene about $482,000.
Council members came to the conclusion that there would be better places to allocate that large sum of money.
