Juan Martinez Junior, 60, was riding his bicycle in the 4000 block of Pine Sunday night when a white Toyota Corolla hit him from behind and dragged him 50 feet. Martinez suffered “extensive injuries” and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Martinez’s family still has questions about how he was killed.

“I’m lost for words. I still can’t believe my brother is dead,” said Alfred Martinez.

The driver of the white Corolla was not arrested or cited by police.

“How is it that a person who struck somebody is able to go home and my uncle’s not,” said Maryjane Zamudio.

This wasn’t the first bout of tragedy for the Martinez family. Alfred Martinez’s 24 year old daughter Adrian was killed after being struck by a car walking to the store.

“Nobody has found out who did it,” said Martinez.

Abilene police say if they do make any arrests or issue citations it will be after the investigation is finished.
