ABILENE, TX – The Abilene-Taylor County Health District is no longer planning for a walk-up vaccination line for Thursday’s vaccination clinic.
Most of the appointments, which are only for those in Phase 1A and 1B, were filled by 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, according to the City.
They expected to be completely booked by the evening.
During a media briefing Wednesday morning, Annette Lerma initially thought they would not be able to book enough appointments in time for the clinic, but did say there was a possibility they could get them filled.
Currently, the City is scheduling vaccination times by calling people on the waitlist, which has over 18,000 names.
Lerma said calling has been inefficient for booking appointments, despite the fact that they’re now leaving voicemails.
“It took somewhere in the neighborhood of calling around 700 people in order to schedule about 300 people,” she said.
