City of Abilene opening warming center for residents without adequate heat

The City of Abilene is opening a warming center for residents without adequate heat.

Beginning Sunday at 8 a.m., the Rose Park Senior Center be open for anyone whose homes do not provide adequate heat or shelter due to the extreme weather conditions.

It will remain open through at least Monday.

The Abilene Animal Shelter will remain open for emergency shelter operations, including temporary shelter for stray animals.

Solid Waste Services will collect trash on Saturday for Thursday/Monday collection customers who missed pick-up on Thursday due to icy road conditions. Collection will also run on Dyess Air Force Base. Please have bins out by 6 a.m. to insure pick-up.
