ABILENE, TX – With a 9-8 win over Abilene, the Lady Dragons are headed to the fourth round of the playoffs for the first time since 2004.
In the first game of the three-game series, the team came back from trailing to ultimately win the game 7-5. A big 5th inning that saw the Dragons score four runs helped contribute to the win.
In the second game, which went into extra innings, an RBI single by Claire Carrick and a three-run home run by Lillian Cooper helped extend the Dragons’ lead 9-5. And although Abilene managed to chip away at the deficit, Southlake Carroll managed to hang on to their lead, winning the game 9-8.
Taking on the Flower Mound Jaguars, Dragon Softball will play a one-game playoff on Friday at Denton Guyer HS at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased online at GoFan.Co.
