Flights are delayed from Abilene to DFW Airport and vice versa due to COVID-19 issues.

According to FOX 4, the Federal Aviation Administration issued a ground stop at the Fort Worth Air Route Traffic Control Center on Wednesday afternoon for “Level 3 COVID Cleaning.”

That halted arrivals and departures at DFW Airport.

According to FOX 4, two personnel at the air traffic control center have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past three days.

The Fort Worth facility is undergoing a deep cleaning.

No flights are being allowed to leave or arrive in the Dallas area and are being diverted until the control center returns online.

Don Green with Abilene Regional Airport, told KTXS that American’s 4:27 p.m. departure to DFW is delayed until at least 6:45 p.m.

ABI also received an American flight that was diverted due to the ground stop at DFW.

“This may cause delayed arrivals here later tonight as a domino effect,” said Green.

According to a check of the American Airlines website, at least three flights from DFW to ABI were also delayed:

  • AA Flight 4095 scheduled to leave DFW at 5:05 p.m. delayed until at least 5:45 p.m.
  • AA Flight 3932 scheduled to leave DFW at 6:55 p.m. delayed until at least 7:25 p.m.
  • AA Flight 3695 scheduled to leave DFW at 9:09 p.m. delayed until at least 9:30 p.m.
