Lady Westerners take first at District 4-5A championships

ABILENE, TX — In her first season as Lubbock High’s girls’ golf coach, Cathy Palmer led the Lady Westerners to a first-place finish of 339-360—699 in the District 4-5A championships on Tuesday at Abilene Country Club.

Jacinta Massie led the Lady Westerners by shooting 82-87—169. Andrea Bedell carded a two-day total of 83-92—175 with Emeri Tran two strokes behind (84-93—177). Chase Fields adding the final counting score of 90-88—184.

Lubbock-Cooper earned the final regional-qualifying team spot by combining for a 350-356—706. Ayers Finley penciled a 90 on the final day of the district meet for a total of 172 with Macey Goodblanket carding 88s on both days for a 176.

Addi Harrist recorded rounds of 94 and 85 for a 179, while Ella Oglesby (88-97) and Hannah Curry (92-93) both totaled a 185.

The Region I-5A meet is set for April 19-20 at Rawls Golf Course.
