SAN ANGELO, TX— The San Angelo Rodeo Parade will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 10 in downtown San Angelo.

The parade route will be different for 2021 because of the ongoing construction downtown. The parade will begin at Irving and Concho streets and end at Rio Concho Drive.

According to Brenda Orozco, San Angelo Stock Show & Rodeo Association secretary, the parade will feature floats, antique vehicles, marching bands and marching groups.

There is no charge to submit entries into the parade. For anyone interested in participating in the parade, the deadline has been extended until 5 p.m. Friday, April 2.

“Monday morning, I will start reviewing all the entries and get them submitted to TV stations,” Orozco said. “The sooner they can get them in, the better.”

Individual vehicles cannot be submitted as floats, according to Orozco.

“In order to be submitted and qualify as a float entry, we do advise that you have your vehicle pulling a trailer,” she said.

For those who march or ride in the parade, the association will provide vouchers for free admission to the fairgrounds valid for that weekend only.

“It’s just a way of the association saying ‘Thank you for participating’,” Orozco said.

Entry forms can be found on the rodeo parade’s website and can be submitted by fax or emailed to Brenda@sanangelorodeo.com.

The parade will have no restrictions.

“We are very lucky and very blessed that Gov. Abbott opened Texas at 100%,” Orozco said. “To us, that was the green light to go ahead and provide this opportunity for the community.”

The parade starts at 10 a.m., however, Orozco says in previous years, families and individuals have begun lining up along the route at approximately 8 a.m. or 8:30 a.m.

The parade lasts approximately one hour and should be finished by 11 a.m., but no later than 11:15 a.m., Orozco said.

Justin Jonas, SASSRA executive director, reminds the public the rodeo will be held from April 9-24 at Foster Communications Coliseum, 50 E. 43rd St.

Entry to the carnival and midway will be free of charge Mondays and Tuesdays.

“Our carnival and midway open at 4 p.m. during the week and at 11 a.m. during the weekend,” Jonas said. “People can just come out and enjoy the food and enjoy the day and the carnival.”
