ABILENE, TX— According to Hendrick Health Care, CEO, Brad Holland, Thursday morning 40 healthcare personnel arrived at Hendrick Medical Center as part of the Department of Defense COVID-19 response operation. These individuals will work alongside the Hendrick Health team caring for the community.

“We are just happy to have them here they are going to help us to continue the war on COVID” said Holland.

According to Holland, these individuals come from all over the nation and include military branches such as the Army, Airforce, and the Navy. Holland also says they are fortunate to now have over 200 federal and state caregivers treating patients at the bedside and working alongside the Hendrick health team to care for the community.

“We really appreciate these caregivers because these army reserve personnel are leaving their family their friends their homes to come to help us here in the Big Country and with that, I just say thank you,” said Holland.

Holland says, “Even as the positivity rate decreases slightly, 30 to 40% of the hospital patient population is COVID-19 positive, with the Critical Care Units operating at 140-145% occupancy levels across Hendrick Health.
