Lytle Land & Cattle Company takes needed measures to stay open during COVID-19

ABILENE, TX- Sharon Riley’s Lytle Land & Cattle Company had to close for 4 days as they were short-staffed due to the pandemic. They had to take drastic measures to make sure they stay open this time.

The “armed” servers and bartenders with masks and sterile black gloves are following strict protocols while they are serving in the steakhouse restaurant, to make sure closing stays out of the way.

“We don’t want to spread anything and make sure it’s not COVID at first, and then people were getting tested,” said Bartender/Server, Adrianna Mott.

As difficult and stressful serving may be, Moss said that with less staff, that can become even worse. She works at the steakhouse since May,  and in the time she worked there, the restaurant has closed its doors two times because of the pandemic.

If the situation was normal, there would be eight servers on the restaurant’s floor. Most of the days, they are working with only four on the floor for a night shift, as it’s not easy.

“The most I had over here was a full bar top, and four or five tables all at once,” Mott explained.

Another server Jax Roam clarified that the measures are taken very seriously and even a minor cold is taken as a potential COVID-19 case, all in order to protect themselves and the guests.

“It clicks,” Roam added. “Wash your hands after this, use gloves, change out your gloves every five minutes, or something like that. We’ll find a way to stay open, whether it’s strictly deliveries or serving only outside. We’ll find a way to make money and serve our people,” Roam assured.”

The restaurant kept its word and paid their staff while they were closed.
