AUSTIN, TX — The Texas men’s basketball team bolstered its 2021-22 squad Saturday with the addition of a third transfer in former Creighton forward Christian Bishop, who led the nation last season in field goal percentage.

The 6-foot-7 Bishop ranks fourth among active Div. I players in career field goal percentage with 64.5 percent (296-459), and averaged 11.0 points and a team-high 6.4 rebounds while starting all 31 of Creighton’s games this past season. The junior led the nation in field goal percentage this year, converting 68.1 percent of his shots, which was also good enough to lead all Div. I players who attempted at least 200 field goals.

Bishop was a key cog in Creighton’s Sweet 16 run in this year’s NCAA Tournament. In the Bluejays’ season-ending loss to eventual national runner-up Gonzaga, he tallied 12 points and five rebounds.

Texas also officially signed Utah’s Timmy Allen and Kentucky’s Devin Askew, each of whom already had been announced as confirmed transfers to the program.
